<br /> 192 <br /> RAMON ~UCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 13 <br /> POTABLE WATER SYSTEM <br /> with angle points on line, shall be approved by Engineer and the <br /> City of San Marcos Building Inspector prior to Contractor <br /> proceeding with the trenching. <br /> (2) Trenching shall be open cut with vertical sides from <br /> the bottom of the bedding to a point 1 foot above the pipe and a <br /> minimum trench width of 12" (pipe zone). The excavation above the <br /> pipe zone may be stepped and/or the sides laid back to a stable <br /> slope (see Paragraph 12-03 herein above). <br /> ( 3) No pipe shall be installed in trench until excavation <br /> has been completed, the bottom of the trench graded and the trench <br /> completed. Piping shall be installed in a continuous envelope of <br /> sand extending at a minimum 4 inches below, 4 inches to the sides, <br /> and 4 inches above the outer parts of the pipe, fittings and <br /> accessories. <br /> (4) Excess spoil will be disposed of by the Contractor, <br /> off site, at the Contractor's expense. <br /> b. Trench backfill shall not contain any rocks larger than <br /> 1/2" in its largest dimension. <br /> c. Trench backfill shall be tamped in 6" lifts (compacted) and <br /> shall be compacted to the requirements of 2-07. Contractor shall <br /> mound excess fill on top 0-£ fillec:1 trench. Contractor will be <br /> required to fill any low spots on trenches that develop after <br /> backfill. <br /> d. All work shall be performed using the best practice of the <br /> trades involved. <br /> 13-06 CLEANUP: <br /> a. The Contractor shall make final cleanup of all parts of <br /> the work before final acceptance. This cleanup shall include <br /> removal of pieces O-f concrete and other construction materials, <br /> backfilling, grading to drain, finish grading, and in general <br /> preparing the site in a neat and finished appearance. <br /> 13-3 <br />
