All work under this specification is subject to the <br /> pertinent provisions (fabrication and erection portions) of the <br /> American Institute of Steel Construction "Specification for the <br /> Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel for <br /> Buildings", as well as to the applicable Items of the Texas State <br /> Department of Highways and Public Transportation "Standard <br /> Specifications for Construction of Highways, Streets, and Bridges" , <br /> 1982, and the pertinent provisions of other sections of these <br /> specifications. <br /> 16-02 SCOPE: <br /> a. The work consists of grading, structural excavation, <br /> foundation preparation, drilled shaft foundation (specified in <br /> Specification 7), bolted steel bridge, wood deck placement, <br /> welding, construction and erection, etc. all as necessary to <br /> complete the pedestrian bridge(s) as shown on the drawings. <br /> 16-03 MATERIALS: <br /> a. Composite Beams - shall be made up of two (2) steel <br /> American Standard Channels C12x30 with a 4"x12"xlO' treated wood <br /> butt to butt filler (5 EA 4"x12"xlO' required per side). Channels <br /> shall be carbon grade steel meet Lng all of the requirements of ASTH <br /> A36, and shall be cambered 3" at centerl!ne of beams. The 4"x12" <br /> f iller shall be '2 southern yellow pine or better, lumber shall be <br /> treated with a CCA (1Iolmanized) process ~o a retention of 0.6 <br /> pounds per cubic foot. Lumber shall be free of checks or cracks <br /> which in the opinion of the Engineer affect the structural <br /> capabilities of the lumber. <br /> b. Diaphragms - shall be made up of steel 11 Shape W12x40 and <br /> shall be carbon grade steel meeting all of the requirements of ASTH <br /> A36. <br /> c. Connectors and Diagonal Bracing - shall be made up of Angle <br /> L3x3x3/8 and shall be carbon grade steel meeting all of the <br /> requirements of ASTH A36. <br /> 16-1 <br />
