Reinforced Concrete abutments shall be in accordance with <br /> the pertinent requirements of Specification 4. Concrete shall be <br /> Class C. <br /> d. The bridge components shall be shop fabricated, assembled <br /> and erected in accordance with the requirements of the American <br /> Institute of Steel Construction "Specification for the Design, <br /> Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel for Buildings", <br /> effective November 1,1978, and the details shown on the drawings. <br /> e. Temporary erosion control, shall conform to the pertinent <br /> requirements of Specification 19 and Item 506 of the Texas SDHPT <br /> Standard Specifications. <br /> Special Note: The bridge construction is next to the San <br /> Marcos River, which is a protected watershed. The Contractor shall <br /> be responsible for the protection of the entire construction area, <br /> such that there is NO silt, sedimentation, or water pollution <br /> generated by ~he construction of the bridges. Temporary means, <br /> such as silt fence of other acceptable materials shall be approved <br /> by the Engineer. THE CONTRACTOR IS HEREBY PLACED ON NOTICE THAT <br /> THE POLLUTION OF THE SAN XARCOS RIVER BY SILT, SEDIMENTATION, OR <br /> ANY OTHER WATER POLLUTION COULD CAUSE THE OPERATION TO BE SHUT <br /> DOWN. If the construction is shut down because of the Contractor's <br /> inability to control water pollution at this site (or any other <br /> site), the Contractor shall not be entitled to additional <br /> compensation, and could be penalized by the liquidated damages if <br /> inability to resolve the problems extends past the contract time. <br /> 16-05 SPECIAL CONDITIONS: <br /> a. The Contractor is hereby advised that the Owner is only <br /> able to provide legal access to the north abutment of the <br /> Pedestrian Bridge over San Marcos River, (shown on Sheet 13 of the <br /> drawings) through a 20' wide temporary work easement. The <br /> Contractor shall exercise due care to use easement for access of <br /> equipment, vehicles, and delivery of materials only. The <br /> Contractor is not allowed to park vehicles, equipment, or store <br /> materials in said work easement. <br /> 16-3 <br />
