The Contractor shall furnish and plant all plant <br /> materials required by the drawings. <br /> a. Substitutions: <br /> Plants of kinds other than those named in plant list will not <br /> be accepted unless specifically approved by the Engineer. Proposed <br /> substitutes, in each case, must possess the same essential <br /> characteristics as the kind of plant actually specified in regard <br /> to appearance, ultimate height, shape, habit of growth, general <br /> soil, and other requirements. Plants of greater value may be <br /> accepted without additional cost to the OWner. <br /> b. Shipment and delivery: The Contractor shall promptly <br /> notify the Engineer, in advance, when the plant material will be <br /> delivered and the manner of shipment. The Contractor shall furnish <br /> an itemized list in duplicate, of the actual quantity of plant <br /> material in each delivery, in order to insure satisfactory <br /> coordination of delivery and to expedite inspection at the point <br /> of delivery. This list and the necessary inspection certificates <br /> to accompany each plant or shipment shall be delivered to the <br /> Engineer, prior to acceptance and plan~ing of the plant material. <br /> All plant materials shall be packed to provide adequate protection <br /> against climatic, seasonal and breakage injuries during transit. <br /> The tops shall be securely covered with tarpaulin or canvas to <br /> minimize wind-whipping and drying. Under no circumstances shall <br /> balled plants be dropped from trucks to the ground. A suitable <br /> method of handling shall be employed to preclude cracked or <br /> mushroomed plant balls at the point of delivery. <br /> 20-01 PLAN'rING SEASON: <br /> The planting dates are listed below. <br /> a .
