88 RAMON, LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1B SITE PREPARATION 1B-04 SITE PREPARATION: a. The construction site shall be prepared for construction operation by the removal and disposal of all obstructions and objectionable materials from the designated construction area. Such obstructions and objectionable materials shall include the removal of designated trees, bushes, grass, miscellaneous stone, brick, concrete, scrap iron, all rubbish and debris whether above or below ground. b. Prior to grading and subsequent construction operations, the site shall be cleaned of brush, roots (to a depth of at least 6" below ground at finish grade, at ground level where subsequent grading is filled or cut), stumps, chunks, limbs, wire, down timber, heavy growth of grass and weeds, vines, rubbish, incidental structures, and all other debris which would be a hindrance to further construction operations. c. Materials removed shall be hauled to and disposed of in a public dumping ground or alternative site approved by the Engineer. d. The use of explosives is not allowed. e. Materials or parts of structures which are on the site and are designated as surplus shall become the property of the Contractor. Any disposal plans shall be approved by the Engineer. f. Existing structures which are to be abandoned shall be broken off or removed to a depth of not less than 1 foot below the foundation or subgrade of the new work. NOTE: The Contractor shall exercise due care to avoid damage to trees and other existing features which are to remain through all construction operations. Contractor is contractually obligated to protect trees froa equipment by wrapping tree trunks with .2 by wood stock ( or any other method approved by Engineer). If damage is sustained by trees, it shall be repaired at the contractor's expense following the best horticultural practices. 1B-4
