When excavation is carried below the grade or below the <br /> limits shown on the plans or specifications herein, or below the <br /> grade or beyond the limits as directed by the Engineer, the <br /> under-cut or over-cut space shall be filled with concrete poured <br /> monolithic with the foundation. In trenches for culvert pipe lines, <br /> under-cut areas shall be backfilled to grade with suitable <br /> materials, thoroughly compacted. No additional compensation will <br /> be allowed the Contractor for such concrete or compacted filling. <br /> Compensation will be allowed for additional excavation that is <br /> approved by the Engineer. <br /> c. Explosives shall not be used in excavating for structures. <br /> 3-05 EXCAVATION: <br /> a. Excavation for forms for the restroom þuildin9l5, group <br /> shelter, and slabs and footings shall be such that the top of slab <br /> is 6" higher than the highest point on the ground (or elevation <br /> given on drawings). Backfill shall be provided to bring the ground <br /> surface within 2" at all other points and shall be in accordance <br /> with the details shown on the drawings. <br /> b. Excavation for forms for the picnic unit slab shall be such <br /> that the top of slab is 2" higher than the lowest point on the <br /> ground. The adjoining higher ground shall be graded to bring the <br /> ground surface down 2. below the top of the slab and said grading <br /> shall be performed in such a way as to drain the ground surface <br /> around the slab. The slab shall not, under any conditions, be <br /> placed on fill material. <br /> c.Excavation for all types of posts and post sleeves shall <br /> be as required on the drawings, which also show their relation to <br /> the slabs adjoining them. <br /> d. Excavation for curb and gutter, sidewalks, and concrete <br /> slabs shall comply with the details shown on the drawings. <br /> e. Excavation for low water crossing footings and grade beams <br /> shall comply with the details and elevations shown on the drawings. <br /> 3-2 <br />
