Backfill of structures, other than pipe, shall be made with <br /> reasonable uniformity around and along the structure. It shall be <br /> placed in 6 inch layers, compacted thickness. <br /> f. Backfill of the pipe shall be in accordance with <br /> requirements of the sections specifying the particular use of the <br /> pipe. <br /> 3-08 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT J <br /> a. Structural Excavation will not be measured for separate <br /> payment but shall be considered subsidiary work pertaining to the <br /> involved items of the contract. <br /> b. Backfill (providing material, placing or compacting) for <br /> structures will not be measured for separate payment but shall be <br /> considered subsidiary work pertaining to the involved items of the <br /> contract. <br /> c. Laboratory testing to determine the Optimum Density (AASHTO <br /> Proctor) for the backfill material proposed by Contractor will not <br /> be measured for separate payment but shall be considered subsidiary <br /> work pertaining to the involved items of the contract. Each <br /> substantially different backfill material proposed for use by the <br /> Contractor will require its own laboratory determined Proctor <br /> curve. <br /> 3-4 <br />
