103 RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 5 CONCRETE SLABS, CURB AND GUTTER, AND MISCELLANEOUS CONCRETE 5-04 CONSTRUCTION: a. General: (1) Excavation to lines and grades and subgrade preparation shall comply with the pertinent requirements of Specification 2 and Specification 3 of these specifications. Backfill shall be to finish grades shown on the drawings or as specified in Paragraph 3-07 of Specification 3 of these specifications. (2) The subgrade shall be excavated and shaped to line, grade and cross-section as shown on the plans. All vegetation shall be completely removed within the area of the construction. The subgrade shall be tamped or rolled to the density specified in 2-07. ( 3) The subgrade level shall be excavated to an elevation which allows for the required thickness of sand between the subgrade and the proposed bottom of the concrete structure to be built. See drawings for specific requirements. (4) Materials for required fills shall be suitable excess excavated materials placed in layers which are not more than six ( 6) inches in cOJUpacted thickness. All fills shall extend at least one (1) foot beyond the edges of the finished concrete slab, the slopes of fills shall be at least four feet horizontal to one foot vertical (4:1). ( 5) Concrete Construction shall be in accordance with the pertinent requir...nts of Specification 4 of these specifications. (6) PODIS shall be of wood or metal, straight, free from warp and of a depth equal to the thickness of the finished work. They shall be securely staked to the line and grade and maintained in a true position during the depositing and finishing of the concrete. (7) The reinforcing steel, if required, shall be placed in position as shown on the drawings. Care shall be exercised to keep all steel in its proper position. 5-2
