<br /> 104 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 5 <br /> CONCRETE SLABS, CURB AND GUTTER, AND HI SCELLANEOUS CONCRETE <br /> b. Concrete Sidewalk: <br /> (1) General: This work shall consist of construction on <br /> a prepared subgrade, sidewalk of concrete materials and method <br /> specified in accordance with the drawings and these specifications. <br /> (2) Forms of wood or steel shall be used along each edge <br /> of sidewalk. These forms shall be set true to line and grade and <br /> shall be held rigid in place by stakes, placed outside the form and <br /> flush with the top edge of the forms. <br /> (3) Materials and work shall be in accordance with the <br /> pertinent requirements of Specification 4. Concrete shall be Class <br /> C. <br /> (4) Sidewalks shall be constructed in sections of the <br /> length shown on the plans. Expansion joints (premolded expansion <br /> joint material) shall be placed between different sections, <br /> existing buildings or structures and at intervals, in long runs, <br /> not to exceed 30 feet in length. Expansion joints shall be placed <br /> at right angles to the formed sides and adjacent. to other <br /> structures (such as curb and gutter and/or building slabs). <br /> (5) Reinforcing steel shall be placed in accordance with <br /> the requirements of the drawings, and kept in place by chairs, <br /> concrete blocks, or any other method acceptable to the Engineer. <br /> (6) Concrete shall be mixed and delivered in accordance <br /> with Item 421.11 of the Texas SDHPT Standard Specifications, p¡aced <br /> in the forms, upon prewetted sand subgrade, to the depth specified <br /> and spaded, puddled, vibrated and/or tamped until thoroughly <br /> compacted and mortar covers the top surface. The top surface shall <br /> be floated with a wooden float. The outer edges of the sidewalk <br /> shall be rounded by the use of an edging tool having a 1/4 inch <br /> radius. Construction joint grooves shall be formed by the use of <br /> a jointing tool having 1/4 inch radii on either side. Contraction <br /> joints shall be installed in lengths equal to the width of the <br /> sidewalk or on 5' centers whichever 1s the shortest length. The <br /> final surface of this sidewalk shall be troweled and lightly <br /> broomed at right angles to the length of the sidewalk. <br /> 5-3 <br />
