<br /> 112 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 6 <br /> ASPHALTIC PAVEMENT <br /> 6-04 FLEXIBLE BASE (Select Base): <br /> a. Flexible base material shall be furnished by the Contractor <br /> from sources used by Hays County or City of San Marcos, or the <br /> District 14 of the Texas Department of Highways and Public <br /> Transportation. <br /> b. Compacted minimum thickness for flexible base shall be 8". <br /> c. Flexible base material shall conform to all of the <br /> requirements of Texas SDHPT Item 249 (except paragraph,249.8) for <br /> Type "A", Grade 2 (crushed stone) or better. <br /> After the subbase has been compacted and shaped to grade and <br /> section, the material shall be delivered in uniform amounts. In <br /> general, the flexible base shall be laid down in conformity with <br /> Paragraph 249.6 of the Texas Department of Highways and Public <br /> Transportation Standard Specifications. Compaction shall be no less <br /> than 95% density as determined by Texas SDHPT test method Tex-113-E <br /> (or AASHTO Proctor). <br /> 6-05 PRIME COAT: <br /> a. Prime coat shall consist of one sprayed application of <br /> cutback asphalt, RC-2S0, Texas SDHPT Item 310 (except paragraph <br /> 310.4 and 310.5) applied at the rate of 0.20 gallons per square <br /> yard over the prepared flexible Dase. Allow the asphalt to set <br /> uncovered only as long as necessary for the evaporation of <br /> sufficient volatiles to obtain the required tackiness for <br /> application of the surface course. <br /> b. Before spraying the finished flexible base material, cover <br /> all adjacent masonry concrete, steel, etc., to prevent staining. <br /> Cover with impermeable paper, and seal or lap the joints to insure <br /> positive protection. <br /> c. Tack coat the portion of concrete curb and gutter (2" on <br /> gutter edge) and ends of concrete driveway and low water crossing, <br /> which are to join H.M.A.C., with same material as prime coat. <br /> 6-2 <br />
