<br /> 118 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 7 <br /> DRILLED SHAFT FOUNDATIONS <br /> f. Material excavated, including drilling ~ud (if required to <br /> control excessive ground water and/or caving conditions) shall be <br /> removed from the site as soon as practicable, but will not be <br /> allowed to remain on site for a period longer than 48 hours under <br /> any circumstances. <br /> g. Removal of the casing shall not cause movement of the steel <br /> cage, upward movement of steel cage of more than 2" or downward <br /> movement in excess of 6" will be justifiable cause to reject <br /> drilled shaft, and contractor shall be responsible for any <br /> adjustments necessary because of this condition. <br /> h. The steel cage, consisting of longitudinal bars and spiral <br /> reinforcement, lateral ties, or horizontal bands, shall be <br /> completely assembled and placed as a unit immediately prior to <br /> concrete placement and after thorough cleaning of the completed <br /> shaft. Under no circumstances will the drilled shaft be left open <br /> longer than 6 hours without being filled with concrete. Spiral <br /> reinforcement shall be tied to the longitudinal bars at every bar. <br /> Tack welding will not be pe~itted. <br /> i. If shaft is lengthened, all longitudinal bars required in <br /> the shaft shall be extended to the bottom by proper splice (lap, <br /> welding, or unspliced bars of proper length). Any splices required <br /> shall be in the lower portion of the shaft. <br /> j. Concrete shall be placed as soon as possible after all <br /> excavation is complete and reinforcing steel is properly placed. <br /> Concrete shall NOT be vibrated or rodded. Concrete shall be placed <br /> continuously in the shaft to the top. The height of free fall of <br /> concrete shall be limited to four (4') feet at all times. A <br /> tremmie shall be used to place concrete in the drilled shaft. <br /> 7 - 0 S lŒASUREJŒN'l' .AND P A YHENT : <br /> a. DRILLED SHA.F'r PILING shall be measured by the lineal foot. <br /> All shafts shall be measured from top finish elevation to bottom <br /> of drilled shaft as approved by Engineer. The depths shown on the <br /> drawings are for bidding purposes and does not limit the <br /> requirements for depth of pilings. <br /> 7-3 <br />
