151 RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 11 RESTROOM BUILDINGS All fill material must approved by the Engineer and the testing laboratory prior to placement. Samples of proposed select fill shall be furnished to the testing laboratory a minimum of seven days prior to installation to permi t time for specification compliance inspection and approval. ( 2) Excavated material approved for use as backfill shall be free of stones larger than 2 inches in longest dimension, roots and organic material. (3) Utilities: Coordinate concrete work with plumbing, electrical or other trades whose work must be installed in or below concrete slabs or through beams or slabs. Furnish necessary grades and dimensions as required for proper installation of all pipe and conduit. c. Excavation, Filling and Backfilling: ( 1) Excavate in the area of the building, extending 3 feet beyond building line, to a depth of 1 foot below existing grade. Excavations shall extend a sufficient distance from the walls and footings to allow for the placement and removal of forms. Where excavation is to lower levels or greater depths than required for foundation construction shown, or where unsatisfactory material is removed, the excess material shall be replaced with select fill material. Refer to drawings for depths of beams to be excavated after select fill has been placed. (2) Select Fill Placement: Contractor will roll and compact the opened aubgrade after removal of existing soil and prior to placing first layer of compacted fill material. Within the confines of the building foundation and to the limit of compacted fill noted herein, bring the excavated area to establish.d finish grade, using fill as specified in properly compacted layers. The layers shall not exceed 6" compacted thickness. 11-3
