Fill gap between 4"x8"x16" and brick <br /> completely with mortar to surround the vertical reinforcement. <br /> (7) Lap all reinforcement splices a minimum of 24" <br /> (horizontally and vertically). <br /> (8) Bond brick facing to 4"x8"x16" concrete masonry wall <br /> by the use of "truss type" reinforcement for 8 " modular width. <br /> Wall ties used for brick facing elsewhere will NOT be allowed for <br /> this wall section. <br /> 11-06 BRICKWORK: <br /> a. General: This section includes, but is not limited to, <br /> Brickwork, Mortar, and other related items necessary to complete <br /> project as indicated by the documents unless specifically excluded. <br /> b. Materials: <br /> (1) OUtside Facing Brick: ASTH C-216-65, or C-62 Modular <br /> Facing Brick, Grade SW, Type FBS, equal to Elgin Standard Brick <br /> Company's Biggercana Blend, color selection by OWner. Within ten <br /> working days after Contractor receives the Notice to Proceed, the <br /> Contractor shall provide the Engineer with a manufacturer's <br /> complete sampler panel (not just individu~l panels) for selection <br /> of texture, color, and blends. The Owner will have the color <br /> selected within 20 working days thereafter, provided that the brick <br /> proposed by the Contractor meets the specifications. <br /> (2) Mortar: Use mortar composed of one part Portland <br /> Cement, one part hydrated lime,S parts sand, by volume. Optional <br /> use, one part masonry cement, and 3 parts sand, by volume. Add <br /> color as required. Measure sand damp and loose. <br /> c. Laying Brick: <br /> (1) Lay brick plumb, level or true to a line, in common <br /> bond or as indicated on drawings. Align on exposed face or as <br /> indicated on drawings. <br /> 11-6 <br />
