<br /> -6- <br />(A) The sign shall be located on a landscaped median; <br />(B) The sign may not encroach into the right-of-way of an <br /> intersecting street; <br />(C) The sign shall be constructed of wood at least 2 inches <br /> thick, or of masonry or metal; <br />(D) The size and location of the sign shall be indicated on <br /> the final plat of the subdivision; and, <br />(E) A written agreement pertaining to the sign shall be <br /> entered into with the city. <br />Sec. 2-3. PeDllilllent Off-premise Signs. <br /> <br />Off-premise signs within the city and within the extraterritorial <br />jurisdiction of the city shall comply with this Section. Any <br />standard not specifically outlined in this Section shall be <br />regulated by the Texas Litter Abatement Act, or regulations <br />adopted under that act. <br />( 1) Bench signs on a public right-of-way are permitted only <br /> by written agreement with the city. The remaining <br /> subdivisions of this Section do not apply to bench <br /> signs. <br />(2) Existing off-premise signs having wooden pole supports <br /> may be restructured to a metal monopole support. <br />(3) New and restructured signs shall comply with the <br /> following requirements: <br /> (A) Maximum area - 480 square feet or, for restructured <br /> signs, the area of the existing sign, whichever is <br /> less; <br /> (B) Maximum height - 25 feet for signs with an area of <br /> less than 75 square feet, and 42 1/2 feet for signs <br /> with an area of 75 square feet to 480 square feet. <br />(4) New off-premise signs shall be permitted only along the <br /> following highways, and shall comply with the following <br /> minimum spacing requirements with respect to other <br /> off-premise signs on the same side of the street or <br /> highway: <br /> (A) IH-35: 1,500 feet <br /> (B) Texas Highways 123, 21 and 80, Loop 82 from Martin <br /> Luther King, Jr. Drive to IH-35, FM 2439 (Hunter <br /> Road) from San Antonio Street southwest to the <br /> extraterritorial jurisdiction limits, FM 3409 <br /> (Wonder World Drive) from FM 2439 to IH-35, and RM <br /> 12 (Bugg Lane) from the Hopkins Street/Bugg Lane <br /> intersection to IH-35: 500 feet within the city <br /> limits, and 750 feet within the extraterritorial <br /> jurisdiction. <br />(5) New and restructured off-premise signs shall not be <br /> located on property designated as a residential district <br /> by the General Zoning Ordinance. <br />(6) Except within the highway corridor, off-premise signs <br /> which are erected or restructured on premises which have <br /> an existing principal structure or use are subject to <br /> the same requirements which apply to permanent <br /> on-premise signs in the same location. <br />(7) The changing of off-premise signs to on-premise signs by <br /> a change in the copy, except for messages advertising <br />
