<br /> -7- <br /> the sign for sale or lease, and the changing of <br /> on-premise signs to off-premise signs requires a permit. <br /> Except within the highway corridor, changed signs shall <br /> comply with all regulations pertaining to the new use of <br /> the signs. <br />Section 2-4. TeJlUX>razy signs. <br /> <br />(a) Temporary signs are subject to the limitations indicated <br /> below, as well as the location restrictions in section 1-6. <br /> Portable signs are separately regulated in Section 2-5. <br /> Freestanding inverted "V" signs are permitted on sidewalks <br /> only within the Central Business Area Zoning district. <br />(b) Temporary signs shall not exceed the following area <br /> limitations: <br /> ( 1) 160 square feet each for premises within the highway <br /> corridor; <br /> (2) 12 square feet each for premises occupied by single or <br /> two-family residential uses; and <br /> ( 3) 40 square feet each on all other premises. <br />(c) The number of temporary signs other than political signs <br /> displayed on a premises at any given time is limited <br /> according to the land use of the premises as follows: <br /> (1) Single-family, two-family and mobile home residential <br /> uses: 1 sign per street frontage. <br /> (2) All other uses: 2 signs per street frontage or 2 per <br /> driveway, whichever is greater. <br />(d) Permits are not required for temporary signs, except for <br /> banner signs over public rights-of-way, which shall be <br /> limited to community information signs. <br />(e) Temporary signs shall be subject to the following limitations <br /> on the duration of their use: <br /> (l) Political signs pertaining to a candidate or issue in an <br /> election: No more than 60 days before the election, nor <br /> more than 7 days after the election. <br /> (2) Construction signs: During the period of construction. <br /> (3) Real estate signs: During the period in which the <br /> subject property is for sale or lease. <br /> (4) All other temporary signs: 90 days. <br />Sec. 2-5. Portab1e Signs. <br /> <br />(a) Use as permanent signs: New permanent portable signs are not <br /> permitted. Existing permanent portable signs are <br /> nonconforming signs and are subject to the following: <br /> ( 1) An annual inspection for each permanent portable sign <br /> shall maintain its legal nonconforming status. The city <br /> shall provide 15 days notice by certified mail prior to <br /> each annual inspection. The inspection shall be done in <br /> January of each year by the city Building Inspection <br /> Division to verify compliance with this Chapter and city <br /> construction codes. A $20.00 inspection fee will be <br /> assessed and shall be paid by the last business day of <br /> January. Failure to pay the annual inspection fee will <br /> result in removal of nonconforming status. <br />
