<br />2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />owner: Any person who owns or has responsibility for the <br />care and control of an animal. A person shall be deemed <br />to be the owner of an animal if the person feeds or <br />shelters the animal for three (3) consecutive days or <br />more, or if it apparently resides at a residence or <br />business on three (3) separate days. <br /> <br />Pet: Any domestic animal kept for pleasure rather than <br />utility. <br /> <br />Pet Shop: Any place or facility used for the business of <br />buying, selling or trading pets. <br /> <br />Public Nuisance: Any animal that exhibits one or more of <br />the following characteristics: <br /> <br />(a) Threatens, chases, or attacks passing persons or <br />vehicles. <br /> <br />(b) Attacks other animals. <br /> <br />(c) Trespasses on school grounds. <br /> <br />(d) Is repeatedly loose or unrestrained. <br /> <br />(e) Damages private or public property. <br /> <br />(f) Barks, whines, howls, or otherwise creates noise <br />in an excessive, continuous, or untimely fashion. <br /> <br />Quarantine: strict coI}finement, for the purpose of <br />preventing the spread of disease, within a closed cage, <br />isolation kennel, rabies chamber, or in any other manner <br />approved by the local health authority. <br /> <br />Rabies: An acute viral disease of persons and animals <br />affecting the central nervous system usually transmitted <br />by an animal bite or saliva. <br /> <br />Restraint: The securing of an animal by a leash or lead, <br />or by physical confinement within the real property <br />limits of its owner. <br /> <br />Ridinq School or Stable: Any place or facility used for <br />the business of hiring out, boarding, or giving <br />instructions for riding upon any horse, pony, mule, or <br />donkey. <br /> <br />Small Animal Facility: Any place or facility used for <br />the business of breeding or raising rats, mice, hamsters, <br />rabbits, minks, guinea pigs or other similar small <br />animals for profit. <br /> <br />veterinarian: A veterinarian licensed to practice in the <br />state. <br /> <br />veterinary Hosoital: Any facility operated by a licensed <br />veterinarian for the diagnosis and treatment of animal <br />injuries and illnesses. <br /> <br />vicious Animal: Any animal which: <br /> <br />(a) because of its physical nature and vicious <br />propensity is capable of inflicting serious <br />physical harm or death to persons; <br /> <br />(b) has behaved in such a manner that its owner knows <br />or should reasonably know that the animal has <br />
