7
OBJECTIVE A-3: To continue offering an alternative to our
walk-in hours by training at least thirty new volunteers
to tutor adults on a one-to-one basis.
PERFORMANCE MEASURE: The Project Coordinator will hold
at least one ESL and one literacy tutor training
workshop during the project year, He will report the
number of volunteers who successfully complete the
sessions as part of our semi-annual evaluation report
to TSL. He will also train volunteers to maintain
statistics on the number of hours of tutoring they
provide to their students, These statistics will be
compiled by the Project Coordinator, compared to our
performance the previous year, and reported to the
state Library semi-annually,
OBJECTIVE A-4: To improve our ability to provide GED
tutoring by sponsoring a workshop which will focus on the
special problems which ESL students encounter when
preparing for the GED examination. Professional educators
will be enlisted to assist with this workshop on a
volunteer basis.
PERFORMANCE MEASURE: The Project Coordinator will plan
and administer the GED tutor training workshop by no
later than February 1990, The Coordinator will
summarize the proceedings of the GED workshop and
report the number of volunteers who completed this
training to the state Library,
OBJECTIVE A-5: To supplement the tutorial program by
providing students with access to computer assisted
instruction in adult basic education, literacy and ESL.
This form of instruction will encourage independent
learning while helping students develop computer literacy
skills.
PERFORMANCE MEASURE: The Project Coordinator will
research and evaluate relevant software in order to
purchase those he considers most effective in
accordance with the LSCA project budget by October
1989. Information about software purchases will be
part of the semi-annual evaluation report to the TSL.
Statistics on use of tutoring software will also be
included in the report. These will be gathered through
a system, which is already in place, for tracking use
of the library's public access computer and software.
GOAL B: To establish a Job Information Center within the
library to help clients of the Lifelong Learning Project to
explore career options, develop job search skills, write
resumes, and obtain information about vocational training and
related employment services.
