8
OBJECTIVE B-1: To develop a job information resource
collection by consolidating and reclassifying at least 200
books on resume writing, employment examinations,
vocational guidance, job hunting, and related topics which
are currently scattered throughout the library collection,
Approximately 100 additional titles will be purchased to
enhance and update the collection, Consolidation of these
materials will increase their usefulness by making them
more visible and accessible to clients of the Lifelong
Learning Project,
PERFORMANCE MEASURE: The Project Coordinator will
ensure that relevant materials are identified and re-
classified for the collection by November 1989.
Supplemental materials will be purchased by December
1989. The library's cataloging staff will count the
number of items reclassified or purchased for the
resource collection and report them to the Project
Coordinator for inclusion in his semi-annual evaluation
report to the State Library.
OBJECTIVE B-2: To supplement existing materials in the
resource collection by purchasing simple word processing,
resume writing, career guidance, and related computer
software. Use of these computer programs will help our
clients develop valuable computer literacy skills and
self-confidence while also learning about the world of
work.
PERFORMANCE MEASURE: The Project Coordinator will
research and evaluate relevant software in order to
purchase those he considers most effective in
accordance with the LSCA project budget by October
1989, Information about software purchases will be
included in the semi-annual evaluation report to the
TSL. Statistics on use of this software will also be
included in the report. These will be gathered through
a system, which is already in place, for tracking use
of the libraryts public access computer and software.
OBJECTIVE B-3: To help clients of the Lifelong Learning
Project obtain employment by providing access to
information about vocational training programs and other
resources which can be helpful to the job seeker.
Information will be provided in the form of a bilingual
(English-Spanish) resource guide, as well as a display of
agency brochures, Agencies to be included are the Texas
Employment Commission, the Federal Office of Personnel
Management in San Antonio, the Governor's Job Bank in
Austin, the Private Industry Council Employment Resources
Program, and Gary Job Corps,
